FOUNDERS
Jim Moen and Jon Misiunas are the co-founders of Morris Academy. After building up our local tutoring clientele, we decided in 2007 to open a small, two-office tutoring business in Randolph, NJ. Originally specializing in just SAT and ACT tutoring, the Morris Academy has grown into a five-office suite, offering various educational services for all grade levels. Jim and Jon have helped thousands of students through standardized testing and college acceptance. We now offer online services and can help college-bound students who live anywhere in the United States.
JIM MOEN
Jim has worked in education for much of his professional life. At Delbarton School in Morristown, he taught United States, European, World History, and Holocaust Studies. He organized the yearly trip of all Juniors to the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C.. He organized the Bridges Program, which brought food and clothing to the homeless in New York City. He also advised Speech, Debate, and Mock Trial clubs. He began tutoring standardized testing as a summer program at Delbarton School.
Jim later worked at Randolph High School, teaching AP United States History, AP European History, AP Comparative Government, Criminal and Civil Law, and Politics. Jim also advised the Speech and Debate, Mock Trial, and Senior Mentor Programs. He was also an advisor to the Irish Club, a service group that provided help to the nearby city of Paterson, NJ. He performed with Mr. Misiunas, other faculty members, and many talented student musicians (the students were much better than me) in the beloved Irish Music Assembly on St Patrick's Day.
Jim focuses on the Reading and Writing portions of the SAT and ACT and assists with College Application Essays.
JON MISIUNAS
Jon has worked at Randolph High School for the past twenty years, teaching AP History, Economics, Investment, Civil Law, and Philosophy.
